The Reuven Moskowitz Foundation – Music for Peace is a non-profit organization that represents the legacy of our father, grandfather, and teacher, Reuven Moskowitz, whose aim was to find common ground between people, and to strive for peace between all the inhabitants of the Land of Israel and its neighbors.
We decided to establish a framework for joint artistic activity. In order to accomplish this, we combined his love of music with his vision of promoting dialogue and mutual understanding between Jews and Palestinians. It is our belief that music is a language of the heart and spirit. Regardless of religion, race, gender, or nationality, this language is capable of uniting and connecting people of different backgrounds.

Vision:

The foundation's vision is to create an inclusive space for artistic education in Israel, with a strong focus on music, culture, and humanism. Each year, scholarships are granted to exceptional musicians from diverse backgrounds, including Palestinian, Jewish, Druze, Bedouin, and others, ensuring representation of Israel's cultural richness. The foundation is dedicated to developing comprehensive and holistic training programs that foster musical excellence. These programs encompass cultural studies, critical thinking, humanistic philosophy, practical communication exercises, and the development of musical abilities. This approach aligns with institutions worldwide that recognize music education as a powerful tool for promoting tolerance, peace, dialogue, and artistic multiculturalism.

Plan for the years 2024-2025:

  • Creating a platform that supports the development of talented musicians.
  • Providing educational resources, residency programs, mentorship opportunities, and performance opportunities to support the development of talented musicians.
  • Continuing our commitment, we persist in offering yearly music study scholarships to students at the Zeriab School in Nazareth, under the guidance of esteemed musician Sameer Makhoul.

  • Facilitating professional music collaborations and workshops that promote meaningful communication and cultural exchange between Jewish and Palestinian communities through collaborative musical activities.

Moskowitz Foundation's scholarships and residency program
(artist residency) for 2024-2025:

Reuven Moskowitz Foundation ‒ Music for Peace is proud to present you its pilot plan of scholarships and residencies for the 2023-24 school year. This plan includes the granting of 12 to 14 full year scholarships for students of music with high artistic potential. The scholarships will be equally apportioned among the Jewish, Arab and Bedouin communities. They are intended to help in creating a more egalitarian milieu for musicians whose studies should not be stalled for their family’s economic mishaps. Building on the success of our inaugural event, we are excited to introduce an immersive summer residency program in 2024 exclusively for our scholarship recipients. This transformative experience will offer a nurturing, holistic, and multicultural environment, fostering collaboration, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for diverse musical expressions. Participants will benefit from comprehensive support, including accommodation, meals, expert-led workshops, and mentorship from experienced music educators.

The residency program will reach its pinnacle with a captivating collective ensemble performance, highlighting an extraordinary original composition created during the program.Your invaluable support of our scholarships and residency program empowers us to invest in the future generation of musicians who will shape the local and global music scene. We warmly invite you to engage with us, pose questions, and actively contribute to our mission. Stay connected for regular updates on the foundation's upcoming initiatives as we persist in harnessing the power of music to foster peace, unity, and artistic brilliance.

״The thinker Hannah Arendt spoke of the "Banality of Evil", I would like to״ add the concept of the "vitality of evil". Over the years, I have come to realize that evil has power, that there is something in it which is more stimulating and enticing than goodness and mercy. As moral people, it is our responsibility to fight against this aspect of human nature”
